Abstract
The authors conducted a clinical study on the effect of Tizanidine(Sirdalud¢ç) for 155 patients with acute pain and muscle spasm from July, 1989 to October, 1989 in the Seoul Nat¢¥l Univ. Hospital and 10 associate hospitals. The average age of patients were 39.3 years and 80 cases were men and 75 cases were women. The sites of pain were low back in 81 cases(52%), neck in 17 cases(11%), shoulder in 16 cases(10%), others in 43 cases (27%).
We obtained the following results.
1. Most patients showed improvement in pain at rest, pain at movement, pain at palpation, pain at night, protective posture and spine mobility.
2. Efficacy to tizanidine(Sirdalud¢ç) was 88% and tolerance was 86% in patients¢¥ assessment.
3. No significant side effect was observed during drug administration period except gastrointestinal trouble, mild fatigue, flushing, itching in 13 cases. But symptoms of side effects were mild and recovered spontaneously.
It is concluded that the oral tizanidine(Sirdalud¢ç) appears to be a safe and tolerable drug without major side effect, and has good effect on muscle relaxation and pain relief.
